About Our School
Dromclough N.S. is a small rural school set in the heart of the picturesque Mealagh Valley in West Cork. It is situated a short 8km drive from Bantry town centre. The school is a mixed, co-educational primary school that caters for children from Junior infants to Sixth Class. The school is a two teacher school. The principal is Melanie O'Sullivan. The second teacher is Stacey O'Sullivan. We have a full time secretary/ classroom assistant and a shared Special Education teacher who visits every day.

Dromclough N.S. prides itself in being an open, welcoming and inclusive school. We welcome children from all backgrounds and we do our utmost to make our school a safe, happy and caring place where children's wellbeing is our top priority.

Being a small school makes it easier for us to provide an environment where the individual needs of all pupils can be catered for. We can tailor our learning experiences to include all abilities and interests.

A great advantage to being part of a multi-class school is that children develop strong bonds of friendship and cooperation. Older children look out for and help the children in Junior classes and the younger pupils learn from their older siblings and friends. Children also become independent learners who can think for themselves and make choices about their own learning.

Our school has a cheerful and friendly atmosphere and the school year is full of activity and play, both indoors and outdoors.

We cover all of the core curriculum subjects but we also place great emphasis on art, music, drama, science, nature and sport. We are also very proud of our abilities in I.C.T. and technology.
